Group of 7

Our Group of 7 is helping Community Foundations of Canada activate our movement, widen our reach and imagine how we will support the Governor General’s vision of building a smart and caring nation leading up to Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.

Bruce W. Etherington

Bruce is a renowned speaker and international bestselling author with more than 45 years of leadership experience in the world of financial services. He is the co-founder of the Oakville Community Foundation, now one of Canada’s largest community foundations.

Randall Howard

With a passion for transformation and growth in the world of social enterprises, Randall believes that a new crop of “social innovation” can truly change the world. Randall has been Director of Innovation Guelph since it’s founding, Board Chair of Centre Wellington Community Foundation and Director and Treasurer of Roseneath Theatre.

Louis W. MacEachern

A long-time Calgary resident, Louis’s generosity reaches far and wide. Through a fund in his name with the Calgary Foundation, Louis offers educational scholarships for students in financial need. He also provides art on loan to community hospitals and charities.

John B. MacIntyre

John is a passionate community advocate and past-Chair of the Toronto Foundation. With more than 30 years of experience in private equity and investment banking, John sits on the boards of numerous banking and financial services companies, and was past-Chair of Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation.

Peter J. Poole

Peter is deeply involved in his community as an environmental designer and is well recognized for his conservation work in Canada’s national parks. He is a proud supporter of the Banff Canmore Community Foundation and has a strong interest in reshaping capital to leave positive environmental footprints through a family fund with the Edmonton Community Foundation.

Frank Rochon

Frank is an accomplished business strategist and a respected champion for community development. As Vice Chairman of Deloitte, Frank brings a wealth of corporate expertise and financial knowledge to his contribution with Community Foundations of Canada.

Brett W. Wilson

Brett is one of Canada’s most recognizable businessmen and respected philanthropists. He is a strong supporter of the Calgary Foundation and has made significant contributions to non-profit initiatives across the country. Brett’s commitment to excellence and innovation has inspired others to give and explore how they can leave an equally unique mark on the world.

Governor’s Circle

A group of long-time champions and new ambassadors, the Governor’s Circle contributes a unique mix of community knowledge, network connections, as well as financial and other resources to support our movement through opportunities like Smart & Caring Communities.
