We’re excited to announce the first two speakers for Belong 2017. Cindy Blackstock and Joseph Boyden will join us as keynotes for our 2017 Community Foundations Conference in Ottawa-Gatineau next May. Sharing personal reflections and experiences from their lives and careers, Cindy and Joseph will challenge us to think deeply about our own sense of belonging.
Cindy Blackstock is a member of the Gitksan First Nation and Executive Director of the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada. She is a social worker and a thoughtful and dynamic speaker on why Reconciliation is vital to the integrity of Canada’s national conscience that will be sure to provoke and inspire us.
Award-winning writer Joseph Boyden is no stranger to taking on challenging questions in our history. Joseph’s unique works focus on the historical and contemporary experiences of First Nations peoples. As a Member of the Order of Canada for his contributions as a novelist and social engagement in support of First Nations, he will help us reflect on our collective past, present and future.
