Join us in Victoria, BC, for the 2019 Community Foundations Conference
As one of the largest global gatherings for the community philanthropy sector, the 2019 Conference provides a unique opportunity to envision the future of our communities together. Community foundations have a key leadership opportunity in strengthening belonging, equity, and sustainability as the world strives to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Your opportunity to be part of a transformative occasion
The Community Foundations Conference is the ultimate opportunity to network with and learn from experts in the fields of philanthropy and business, as well as specialty areas including gender equality, reconciliation, responsible investing, and climate change.
Join 800 philanthropic leaders from Canada and around the world in Victoria, B.C. from June 6 to 8, 2019 as we gather at the Victoria Conference Centre to discuss the communities we want to shape, and actionable strategies for getting there. (Please note: pre-conference gatherings and workshops for community foundations will take place on June 5, stay tuned). To give us input on developing the conference, fill out this brief questionnaire. The 17 key themes of the global Sustainable Development Goals will underpin the core conference content, as the community foundation network continues to explore how we can advance progress on the goals, while achieving the greatest impact, locally and globally.
Registration will open in October 2018. Subscribe to the Community Foundations of Canada newsletter (see below) for updates.
Who you will meet
High-profile community leaders, board members, entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators – they all come together as part of the community foundation movement. Our network spans close to 200 community foundations across Canada (covering 90 per cent of Canadian communities), and collectively holds $5.4 billion in assets. At the 2019 Conference, you will also meet several dozen of our international colleagues, who are members of the 1,800 community foundations worldwide, signalling the scope of our powerful and expansive movement.
What we heard: Testimonials from previous conferences
“Loved the spirit of safety to speak truth to power – the honesty and focus from speakers, and the respect attendees had for speakers and visitors to our conference.” — Vancouver Foundation
“I liked the fact that the speakers were mostly from the community and not from the community foundations and that they were very courageous. These were not easy conversations and I liked this.” — Asociatia pentru Relatii Comunitare (Romania)
“Moving, thought-provoking, edgy, humbling, I was in tears many times. I had not expected to come to this conference and to be shaken to the core, to recommit to social justice for Indigenous peoples in quite this fashion. Excellent. I commend you!” — Osprey Community Foundation.
“I appreciated the high quality of analysis expressed by the keynote speakers and panelists. CFC is playing a leading role in encouraging a deeper reflection and action about equity and community rather than just being a cheerleader (go Canada!).” — Lumiere Consulting (Canada)
