Governor General of Canada to open Belong 2017 ConferenceThursday, April 20th, 2017 | Erin Kasungu
We’re just three short weeks from welcoming 700 community and philanthropy leaders to Ottawa-Gatineau!
Between the All My Relations gathering (May 9-11), pre-conference program (May 10) and bilingual 2017 Community Foundations Conference (May 11-13) it’s going to be an inspiring week as we engage in conversation and learning around the themes of belonging, reconciliation, inclusion and more.
Today we are excited to announce that His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will be the opening plenary keynote for our conference.
Together we’ll hear from the Governor General about Canada’s place in the world and philanthropy’s role in fostering a culture of innovation to have a meaningful impact on the future of our communities.
We’ll also have an opportunity to thank His Excellency for the contributions he has made to our movement over the years, and reflect on our shared journey to help build a smarter, more caring country one community at a time.
The opening plenary, which starts on Thursday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m. sharp, will feature an electrifying cultural performance from Ottawa’s largest urban arts organization House of PainT, and will close with Canadian comedian Ali Hassan, host of CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud.
