New partnership to showcase nonprofit HR innovation in CanadaWednesday, January 18th, 2017 | David Venn
(OTTAWA, ON) – To kickoff 2017, Community Foundations of Canada will embark on a creative new project to support Canada’s nonprofit sector by highlighting stories of HR innovation, promising practices and strategies taking place in community organizations across the country.
The project to promote HR excellence within Canada’s charitable and nonprofit sector is being made possible through a new partnership between the Ignite NPS, a family foundation, and Community Foundations of Canada. The collaboration stems from a shared interest in advancing promising practices and builds on the efforts of HRcouncil.ca, an award-winning platform that provides free HR management tools and resources to strengthen nonprofit organizations across Canada.
“These are truly extraordinary times that are recasting all the rules. Strategies and practices that worked in the past in terms of leadership, workforce expectations and engagement won’t necessarily work in this time of accelerated change and intensified competition,” says Linda Mollenhauer, Chair, Ignite NPS.
The project will crowdsource stories, ideas and inspiration from Canada’s nonprofit and philanthropic sector around four key themes: Flexible work arrangements; outsourcing core HR functions; staff development and succession; and adjusting to a new labour force. The insights and experiences will then be turned into a range of digital video, audio and social media content.
“We’ll be tapping into our community foundation, philanthropic and HRcouncil.ca networks to shine a spotlight on stories of innovative HR approaches being used successfully by nonprofit organizations across Canada,” says Sara Lyons, Vice President with Community Foundations of Canada. “The impact of this partnership with Ignite NPS will help nonprofit leaders and board members think differently about HR management. It will also help them keep pace with changing work environments, support the need to develop talent, and adjust to a changing labour force.”
