Belonging

Belonging is not just a feeling, it’s a powerful catalyst for healthier communities and a more cohesive, inclusive Canada.

Belonging intersects with all aspects of community life and connects to some of today’s most pressing issues, from our inclusion of newcomers to reshaping the relationship between Aboriginal peoples and all Canadians.

Our belonging work began with the launch of our 2015 Vital Signs report, and has become a key focus for the community foundation movement leading up to Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017. This milestone year urges us to think about the kind of communities that we want to be part of and the kind of country we want to build together.

Through supporting local initiatives like community kitchens and children’s camps to national initiatives such as the resettlement of Syrian refugees and reconciliation with Aboriginal peoples, our movement is dedicated to building communities where we all belong.
