Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) in partnership with colleagues from Royal Roads University are engaged in a research project focused on Community Wealth Building (CWB). CWB seeks to transform local economies based on communities having direct ownership and control of their assets to produce broadly shared economic prosperity, racial equity, and ecological sustainability.
This research is guided by a central research question: How can community foundations mobilize their full range of capital to address complex societal challenges and build wealth in their communities? This research aims to generate knowledge and tools to support CFs in deepening engagement with CWB, including this session which is a part of a three part session series.
This second session in the series will focus on ways CFs have engaged in shifting racial equity within the economy to communities to achieve racial justice. Examples and resources will be shared and attendees will be engaged in discussing how CFs might mobilize their full range of capital (financial, human, social, political…) to further build wealth and wellbeing with their communities.
