Respecting the privacy of donors fosters trust between them and your community foundation, and is a legal requirement. In this session, led by Miller Thomson LLP, we will explore privacy regulations, and share knowledge and tools to navigate these complexities with confidence. You will also gain a deeper understanding of how to ensure your policies align with privacy legislation. Led by David Krebs and Jessica Modafferi of Miller Thomson LLP.

In this session, you will:

  • Receive a comprehensive overview of privacy laws in Canada, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and how it applies to community foundations
  • Explore best practices for collecting, storing, and managing information, and obtaining and managing consent, while complying with privacy laws
  • Discuss the principles of transparency and accountability in the context of privacy laws, and the importance of responsible data stewardship to build trust with donors

This session is available to community foundations part of the CFC network.
