Some of the most important work we do
is for people we’ll never meet.
Every day, community foundations help communities navigate uncertainty, strengthen trust, respond to change, and invest in possibilities that will outlast all of us. Every grant creates an opportunity. Every investment reflects a belief in what’s possible. Every volunteer hour strengthens the fabric of community. Together, these everyday acts shape a future beyond ourselves.

The phrase is intentionally unfinished because every community has its own hopes for the future, every place faces its own opportunities and challenges, and no single organization has all the answers. The future is shaped through the relationships we build, the choices we make, and the work we do together.
As we prepare to gather in Winnipeg, on Treaty 1 Territory and in the Homeland of the Red River Métis, we recognize that the questions at the heart of For the Future Of… are not new. For generations, Indigenous Peoples have stewarded these lands through worldviews grounded in relationship, reciprocity, responsibility, and care for future generations. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather here, to learn from these enduring ways of knowing, and to explore together how we can strengthen our communities, not only for today, but for generations to come.
This theme also reflects the moment we’re in. Communities are navigating rapid technological change, climate impacts, demographic shifts, and evolving expectations of leadership and philanthropy. Community foundations have an important role to play in bringing people together, strengthening communities, and helping shape what comes next.

Host Foundations

Join us in June!
From June 1–3, 2027, community foundations and philanthropic partners from across Canada and around the world will gather at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg. Together with our host community foundations, Winnipeg Foundation and Francofonds, we’ll explore practical ideas, emerging approaches, and bold questions that will help strengthen communities today while investing in the future. It’s fitting that we’ll do so in Manitoba, where a vibrant network of more than 50 community foundations reflects a long-standing belief in the power of local leadership, generosity, and communities shaping their future.
Help us shape it
Whether you have a session proposal, a speaker recommendation, an idea for an interactive experience, or a conversation our network needs to have, we’d love to hear from you. This conference will be strongest when it reflects the experience, creativity, and leadership of community foundations from coast to coast to coast.
