Kia Canada and Community Foundations of Canada introduced Kia Communities in Motion in 2021—a program aligned with Kia’s belief in ‘Movement that inspires.’ Movement is at the core of human development – through movement, we see new places, meet new people and have new experiences. It is through this movement that we find inspiration.

Now in its second year, Kia Communities in Motion is a $1.4M investment over four years by Kia Canada, channeling funding into community projects that make a difference in communities from coast to coast to coast. Amidst challenges like the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing climate crisis, Kia Communities in Motion envisions sustained transformation in the coming years, offering support through innovative and inspiring approaches, such as the Skwxwu7mesh Uxwumixw Valley Garden Project by Squamish Nation, which will provide fifty Garden Boxes throughout the community.
Many communities, including immigrants, Indigenous communities, racialized communities, individuals living with disabilities and the 2SLGBTQ+ community, face unique challenges in creating safe and inclusive spaces. Kia Communities in Motion is supporting moving forward grassroots efforts to create a future where everyone belongs.
Movement can spark inspiration and fuel innovative ideas in communities. We are pleased to see the incredible projects funded through Kia Communities in Motion’s second year. These projects showcase the brilliance of charities and non-profits across the country as they move communities forward through innovative solutions rooted in building a future where everyone flourishes.
