Food sustains us and our communities. It’s also the place where some of our most pressing issues converge. Redefining our relationship with food and mobilizing locally to build a better food system is critical for the future of our communities.
Canada’s community foundations are helping to drive change locally – from supporting community food centres to encouraging the growth of local food to being a catalyst for collaboration, we are transforming our relationship with food.
Since the release of our 2013 national Vital Signs report “Fertile Ground”, we’re focused on providing community leadership around access to healthy food access, institutional procurement, and impact investing.
Community Foundation of Canada alongside our network are also active with the Pan-Canadian Food Funders collaborative, an informal group of Canadian funders mobilizing to build a more sustainable, resilient and equitable food system for the future.
