Houley’s journey into accounting and finance has been shaped by international experience, curiosity, and a strong appreciation for community. Born in Guinea, she moved to the, UK in 2011, where she completed her high school education before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of East London. Living and studying in London’s diverse environment helped shape her perspective on collaboration, adaptability, and the important role organizations play in strengthening communities.
Houley began her career in the nonprofit sector, working as a Finance Assistant for five years with a London-based organization. During this time, she developed a deep appreciation for the work that happens behind the scenes to support community impact. She found purpose in building reliable financial processes that allow teams and organizations to focus on the people and initiatives they serve.
In 2022, Houley moved to Canada, where she continued to grow her experience as a Senior Accountant in the private sector before joining Community Foundations of Canada in October 2025. As Accounting and Payroll Coordinator, she supports the organization’s financial operations with a thoughtful and detail-oriented approach, helping ensure systems run smoothly while contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Alongside her work in finance, Houley has a strong creative side and enjoys exploring ideas that bring structure and creativity together. Outside of work, she enjoys interior design and finds inspiration in creating warm, functional spaces that bring people together. She also enjoys trying new recipes, working on art and DIY projects, and travelling , often drawing inspiration from different cultures, spaces, and experiences.
