Justin has enjoyed his involvement in various organizations in Hamilton ON and more widely in higher education. Locally, he participated in a number of community groups and served on the boards of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton Community Foundation, where he was chair and is currently a member of the Finance & Investment Committee.
His Foundation involvement has provided experience with projects for poverty reduction, neighbour community hubs and improving secondary school completion and post-secondary education access. An exciting current focus is socially responsible investing, including local community impact investing with notable achievements in social housing.
In academia, he participated as a member president in Universities Canada and also the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities, based in Washington, DC and served on a number of boards, including the CCCU, Trinity Christian College (Chicago) and Global Scholars Canada.
He has a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Toronto and held several positions at Redeemer University, Ancaster ON, including president. He and his wife, Jessie, enjoy traveling, volunteering and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren.
