About Lydia Sadiq

From providing strategic advice to mayors, to advocating for resilient public services, to leading public consultation on Alberta’s first municipal police service since 1956: Lydia’s work has lived at the intersection of public opinion and public policy for 15 years.

A communications & public affairs professional, Lydia’s career was inspired by a desire to build stronger communities by connecting people to their politicians.

Lydia leads and lives with heart. She’s the daughter of immigrants and strongly connected to her Punjabi-Pakistani roots. She believes in fostering connection and belonging one conversation at a time

Lydia’s involvement in the Community Foundation movement began in Grande Prairie, Alberta in 2017 as a volunteer for the Northwestern Alberta Foundation (NAF). In 2018, she became NAF’s youngest board member to date. She went on to represent the organization as a part of CFC’s National Youth Delegation at the national conference in 2019. She is a donor and fundholder at NAF and has been on the CFC board since 2021.

Her previous governance experience includes advancing post-secondary and healthcare in Alberta. She held roles on the Northwestern Polytechnic’s Board of Governors, Alumni Foundation, and Students’ Association, the Alberta Students’ Executive Council, and participated in the creation of Alberta’s ‘Pathways to Care’ for PMOS, which has reached 70,000 healthcare providers and patients globally.

Lydia now lives in Edmonton, Alberta and is the Manager of Corporate Communications at Explore Edmonton.
