Yom joins Community Foundations of Canada as a Program Coordinator for the Healthy Communities Initiative, shortly after completing her studies in Political Science and Gender Studies at the University of Ottawa.
Born and raised in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, Yom is no stranger to a vibrant and dynamic environment where culture and community are deeply intertwined. Along with her lived experience and her studies, Yom brings to CFC work experience with Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and assisting an Equity and Inclusion consulting firm, Mehari Consulting.
She is thrilled to join CFC and work alongside a team that is as dedicated to empowering local communities and fighting for change as she is. Based in Gatineau, you can find Yom in her spare time exploring beautiful parks and trails or teaching herself a new skill.
