Sustainability at CFC

We ACKNOWLEDGE that we have a moral and social responsibility to make Canada and the world a better place for current and future generations.

We UNDERSTAND that sustainable development aims to meet the needs of present generations without jeopardising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) is building a movement that connects community foundations, Canadians and partners to create a just, sustainable future.

We are pursuing greater alignment with sustainable practices by strengthening our internal practices, supporting environmental leadership in the community foundation network, and advocating for a more sustainable future for all.

For communities to be healthy, they must be sustainable. Our economy depends on a healthy society, which in turn depends on a healthy natural environment. Healthy communities and a natural environment are thus crucial to foster well-being and belonging. We work towards this interest by supporting projects and initiatives that challenge and address poverty, inequality and injustice, and ensuring our work increasingly addresses climate change.

CFC is committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDG framework allows us, as well as community foundations, to measure local Canadian data against common global indicators and that of communities around the world.
