Food insecurity is a growing issue in many communities across Canada. In this session, we will explore what food insecurity is, its causes, and what can be done to address it as community foundations. We will dive deep into the impact on individuals, families, and communities, and we will also explore the health and economic consequences of food insecurity and how it can perpetuate the cycle of poverty.

This session will include discussions of the strategies and programs community foundations can support such as food banks, community gardens, and nutrition education programs that will decrease food insecurity in their communities.

This session will be a fireside chat with Tracey Vavrek, Director of Network Engagement and Erin Filey Wronecki of Food Banks Canada.

This session will support community foundation work on several SDGs including:

This session is available to all community foundations who are members of the CFC network.
