There are glaring, profound racial inequities within many employment sectors that reveal that Canadian workplaces are not doing enough to create policies that promote an inclusive workforce. The root cause of these inequities is systemic racism and colonialism that are interwoven in the cultural, institutional, and procedural practices. Join this session to identify how community foundations can address their current inequalities and create an equitable future.

You will leave this session with an understanding of:

  • How to assess your organization’s policies and practices to identify loopholes that may be contributing to inequities. (For instance, is a hiring practice excluding marginalized candidates from the recruitment process?),
  • Identifying and addressing representation/diversity throughout the organization, and
  • How to implement initiatives and set targets that can be monitored using data, such as membership rates in employee resource groups and participation rates in REDI training programs.

This session is available to any member of the public, and is useful to community foundation board members and management. Led by Ruth Mojeed Ramirez (Chief Equity Officer at The Inclusion Project) and Rashid Javed, Chief Operating Officer from the Toronto Foundation.
