Community Foundations of Canada is proud to announce that longtime partner Foundant Technologies (Foundant) has returned for a multi-year partnership, this time with an additional focus: Foundant is now CFC’s first Carbon Offset Partner

CFC is committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals to foster sustainable and resilient communities, and as outlined in SDG 13: “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts,” addressing our climate crisis is crucial to that vision.

While our partnership with Foundant will continue to build technological capacity for our movement, this new opt-in for partners allows us to offset emissions associated with the partnership and advance CFC’s carbon neutrality efforts. We are grateful to Foundant as the first partner to support these efforts.

Moving forward, we have teamed up with Carbon 613 to measure our carbon footprint, which will allow us to explore potential offsets and reduction targets. We have seen how the COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare existing inequalities and threatened the health and wellbeing of our communities. As we progress as an organization, we want to ensure we are doing our part to reduce our contribution to the climate crisis as research has shown that climate change will continue to significantly threaten our health and wellbeing

By analyzing our impact now, we activate our goals to strengthen community and take the long view: goals shared by many across our movement.

We are thrilled to be in great company, as many community foundations in our network are already undertaking this type of work. London Community Foundation and the Kitchener-Waterloo Community Foundation are already looking to measure their carbon footprint.

Thank you, Foundant, for joining us for the next several years as we embark on this journey together.
