As a network, community foundations are always looking for ways to better serve their communities. The Learning Institute provides a full suite of learning support for community foundations.
This fully bilingual online curriculum is a way to access learning experiences tailored to community foundations. The curriculum includes webinars, workshops and peer-to-peer sharing opportunities with specific learning pathways for areas of interest, including gender equality and climate change. Community foundations have access to industry experts in fund development and endowments, grantmaking practices, impact investing, operations, governance, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and much more.

The winter 2023 Learning Institute Curriculum will provide sessions on the disbursement quota, working with non-qualified donees, understanding investment committees and a guide to impact investing. These operations focused sessions give community foundations the practical tools to better serve their communities.
Embedding equity starts with our teams. Alongside sessions on gender lens investing, we’ll be hosting a series of sessions that explore workplace culture and creating a team where everyone belongs. This includes how to have challenging conversation and what equity and inclusion looks like in recruitment and team dynamics.
Through climate action, community foundations are building more resilient and sustainable communities. This winter community foundations will received training on how to create an organizational strategy to have an effective and clear path forward on climate action. This learning journey is part of the Communities for Climate Resilience cohort that is taking ongoing steps to address climate change through the work of community foundations.
The final learning journey for community foundations is communications. Community foundations have a wealth of stories at their fingertips. But how can the small but mighty teams of foundations effectively communicate? This learning journey will support foundation as they develop communications strategies, key messages and brand guides, work with local media and create visual content.
