Community foundations are vital leaders and supporters in their communities. These dedicated individuals are continuously learning and growing, looking for new ways to ensure the entirety of their communities feel like they belong. To support this work, the Learning Institute has curated a season-long learning curriculum that will share new ideas and continue our learning journeys.

CFC’s Learning Institute offers ongoing educational experiences and learning resources tailored specifically to the needs of community foundation board members, leaders, staff and volunteers, created through consultation and collaboration with our network.

This fully bilingual online curriculum includes webinars, workshops, resources and peer-to-peer sharing opportunities with specific learning pathways for different areas of interest. Community foundations have access to industry experts in governance, operations, equity, fund development and endowments, grantmaking practices, impact investing, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and much more.

The Learning Institute’s Winter 2024 curriculum will focus on three learning journeys for community foundations that reflect what community foundations have asked for and build on the learning that was shared in the Fall 2023 curriculum, and prior. These three learning journeys are:

The Community Foundation Skills stream will give community foundation members (leaders, staff, volunteers and board members) the operations know-how to better support their community. This includes a board orientation 101, emergency response strategies and navigating privacy legislation.

Working toward an equitable future starts by looking within. To continue the learnings we shared in 2023, we’ll be hosting a series of sessions that explore intersectionality, anti-racist giving practices, reconciliation discussions, and more.

Belonging is at the core of community well-being, and this stream holds the health of the community as its main focus. This stream will share learnings and pathways to keep our communities strong, whether that’s through discussions on trends in volunteerism, housing or sustainability.
